What if Mary had said ‘No’?

It is hard for us Catholics to think about this, but Mary could very well have said No.  After all, she had free will just like everyone else who is born in the human condition.  This is perhaps the most important reason that Catholics (Roman, Russian Orthodox, Coptic, Ukrainian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, and so forth) and many of the earliest Protestant Churches revere Mary so much. She was human and of her own free will, she said ‘Yes’ when told that she had been chosen to carry the Christ Child. God may move in strange and mysterious ways, but when he approaches Mary about his most strange and mysterious move yet, He does so with the permission of this young girl.

The following post lays out what might have been if Mary had said no.
